Zone 2 Buddy Privacy Policy

Effective date: November 2026

Zone 2 Buddy is an Apple Watch and iPhone app made by Quiver Beacon LLC. It is built so that your training data stays on your devices. This policy explains what the app reads, what it stores, and the one case where data leaves your phone — and only because you asked it to.

The short version

  • Zone 2 Buddy has no accounts, no sign-in, and no servers of its own.
  • Your heart rate and workouts live in Apple Health on your devices. We never see them.
  • Nothing is sent anywhere unless you connect Strava and choose to upload a workout.
  • The app contains no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking.

1. Apple Health data

With your permission, Zone 2 Buddy uses Apple's HealthKit framework.

What the app reads

  • Heart rate, during a workout and from past workouts
  • Resting heart rate, to set up heart-rate-reserve zones
  • Workouts you recorded with Zone 2 Buddy, including distance, calories, and route, for your workout history and weekly trends

What the app writes

  • The workouts you record on Apple Watch, saved to Apple Health with heart rate, calories, distance, and route, so they appear in the Fitness app alongside your other activity

Health data is processed on your iPhone and Apple Watch and stored only in Apple Health. It is never transmitted to us or to any server we operate. We do not use Health data for advertising or marketing, and we never sell it or share it with data brokers. You can change what the app may read or write at any time in the Health app under Sharing → Apps.

2. Heart rate zones and settings

Your age, maximum and resting heart rate, zone boundaries, and app settings are stored on your iPhone and synced to your Apple Watch over Apple's Watch Connectivity. They do not leave your devices.

3. Live workout display

While a workout is running, your watch sends your current heart rate, zone, pace, and distance to your iPhone so the Live tab and the Lock Screen Live Activity can show them. This happens directly between your two devices.

4. Weekly recap (on-device Apple Intelligence)

On iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, the Weekly Recap feature writes a short summary of your training week. The summary is generated by Apple's on-device model, on your phone. No workout data, and no part of the summary, is uploaded to Apple, to us, or to anyone else. On phones that do not support Apple Intelligence the feature is not shown.

5. Strava (optional)

If you choose to connect Strava, you sign in on Strava's own website and authorize Zone 2 Buddy. After that, workouts are sent to Strava only when you tap Upload, or when you turn on automatic upload in Settings. Each upload contains that workout's time, distance, heart rate, and route.

Strava's handling of that data is governed by Strava's privacy policy. The authorization token Strava issues is stored on your iPhone and is deleted when you disconnect Strava in Zone 2 Buddy's settings. You can also revoke access from your Strava account settings at any time.

6. In-app purchases

Zone 2 Buddy Pro is sold through Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple processes the payment; we never receive your card number, billing address, or Apple Account details. The app checks your purchase status with Apple to unlock Pro features. Subscriptions are managed in your Apple Account settings.

7. Age range

To comply with age-appropriate-design laws, the app asks iOS for the age range associated with the device's Apple Account using Apple's Declared Age Range feature. The app receives only a category (for example, "18 or older"), never a birth date, and stores that category on the device. Users under 18 are asked for parental consent before using the app; users under 13 cannot use it.

8. What we do not collect

Zone 2 Buddy does not collect your name, email address, location history, contacts, photos, identifiers for advertising, or usage analytics. The app does not include third-party advertising or analytics software and does not track you across other apps or websites.

9. Data retention and deletion

Because the app keeps its data on your devices, you control it:

  • Deleting the app removes its settings and purchase cache.
  • Workouts saved to Apple Health remain in the Health app until you delete them there.
  • Workouts you uploaded to Strava remain on Strava until you delete them there.

10. Children

Zone 2 Buddy is not directed at children under 13, and the age-range check in section 7 blocks their use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will help.

11. Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the effective date at the top is updated. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
